I decided earlier this week that I would finally take on something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now but kept on putting off. I’m starting to take steps towards Java certification. I recently purchased a book off of amazon.com to help me in my endeavors. The first certification that must be attained is that of Oracle Certified Associate Java SE Programmer. Once this examination is passed, one can take the other more advanced exams. I’ll worry about those later.
I actually planned on taking this test a few years back. At the time it was called SCJP (Sun Certified Java Programmer). These exams cover the basics of Java programming so it shouldn’t be too hard to pass. Most of what I have been doing thus far has only been review. There are a couple of new things in Java 7 that I need to be familiar with, but for the most part everything has been standard Java stuff.
I’ll be sure to keep the blog updated on my progress. Wish me luck.
